Ramen time - Shikiji

Summer is almost done, and autumn is coming. It was a busy day yesterday, woke up 4am as I have annual workshop at the fanning centre. A day late blog post from yesterday!! So after the workshop and Gene's work, we decided to have some warm hearty ramen at shikiji.

Its been our second time together here in Shikiji. Shikiji is one of the ramen restaurant here in calgary. So we arrived on time for them to open, theres 3 group waiting. As soon as we went it, we had our table, and ordered right away.
For our appetizer we ordered takoyaki and Ika Karahge.

Takoyaki is a baked wheat ball with piece of octopus inside, served with our original TakoYaki sauce and mayo for $6. Shikiji's takoyaki is the best i haved taste here in Calgary. Well cooked in the inside, has a good piece of octopus in the inside, good presentation and the sauce is really tasty.

Ika karage or deep fried squid served with shikiji house made shichimi sauce for $8.
The sauce is ok, the squid serving is a bit small , the squid was cook well so its not rubbery.
Still preferred the one in o-sub.

Our ramen takes a bit to arrived, so me and gene kept on chatting, the restaurant played a tagalog song that day O_o
So anyways after like 10 minutes our main dish was served.
I ordered the shio ramen for $12

it has decent sliced of bbq pork, green onions, wakame seaweed and noodles in a light salt soup base.
This is mild, nothing fancy compare to the miso ramen which i normally ordered. Photo quality ai'nt that good as I'm using my phone.

Gene ordered their famous chili goma ramen for $15.
Nicely presented

Like the bowl they used.

Chili Goma Ramen has Ground pork, green onions, shitake, bamboo shoots and noodles in a chili sesame soup base and it has peanut. This is the far tastiest ramen in the menu! Not too spicy just a hint of spice, and lots of flavours going on.You can taste the peanut, kinda remind me of  kare-kare a philippine dish made from a base of stewed oxtail, flavored with ground roasted peanut ,in a milder way!  Not your typical ramen!  A must try for a change.
They served big bowl so if your not that hungry you can order one bowl ^_^
