He used to go here with his co-worker back in the day.
So I decided to give it a try, with an open mind. I certainly have bias to my choice of chinese restaurant. The place is'nt as big as some chinese restaurant I used to visit. It is neat and clean , good amount of space to move around as well as good seating especially for a group of people.
The server were professional ,helpful and friendly. As to the menu, it is simple easy to comprehend though not much of a choices compare to other Chinese restaurant, which is undeniably good especially for those who get easily overwhelm with what to pick.
The other thing I noticed is the prices of their food is a lil bit high compare to other place in chinatown. Then when order come I figured out most serving were huge, definitely good for sharing.
*no worried though we can finish huge amount of food*:-p
Lets start with this wonderful house special fried rice for $12.95. Special fried rice has egg, green peas, shrimp, green onion and char siu. The portion was huge can be shared with 2-4 people.
As for our Vegetable it was not in the menu I believe. We ask them if we can get Yu choy with garlic sauce and they made it possible.As for the taste this fried rice appears to be much milder which we did
not regret as to our main meat was very flavourful!
We ordered two meat, as one meat was not enough for both of us! The first meat we chose was the chicken with black bean sauce! Both of us had been crazy with black bean sauce so why not get one.
Chicken with black bean sauce was price at $14.95. It's boneless chicken cook with black bean sauce that comes with onion and bell pepper as well. Meat was cook nicely, juicy and tasty. Not salty to think it has black bean and the vegetable has the right crunchiness to it. For me this one order is good for 2 people especially for meat lover!
As mention above we want more meat as we still has rice and yu choy left. We decided to order one more meat from the house special section. This was recommended by the server which we did not regret trying.
This is the roasted sliced beef with ginger and green onion hotpot. At first i was thinking I'm getting a soup beef but then when it arrived, it reminded me of adobo or the bistek! The price is $18.95 and can be shared for 2-3 people.
The beef was well done, soft and tasty. We totally recommend to try this dish! It has the right amount of seasoning, meat thats soft and not tought to chew.
As verdict for the Golden inn restaurant , authentic feels like home cook Chinese meal nothing special yet not bad no bang (wow) factor yet hearty!
Thats the word hearty simple meal and late night craving while in calgary. Come visit this restaurant with friends and enjoy the hot fresh meal they offer.
